SPWLA Frank S. Millard Training Center, Houston Texas Applied Geostatistical Methods on Reservoir Characterization SEPTEMBER 12-14, 2016 This course delivers a basic overview in applied geostatistical methods; the essential underpinnings of effective modern reservoir characterization and modeling. Data Analytics, variograms, kriging and stochastic simulation are reviewed and illustrated in their application to modeling problems. Course Instructors: Dr. Reinaldo J. Gonzalez and Dr. Jeffrey M. Yarus Geosteering and Log Interpretation in High-Angle and Horizontal Wells SEPTEMBER 26, 2016 This short course will focus on the practical aspects of log interpretation in high-angle and horizontal (HAHZ) wells for geosteering and formation evaluation applications. The main objective is to evaluate the geometric relationship between the borehole and target reservoir and to land the well correctly into the target, in addition to the more familiar petrophysical evaluation purpose. Course Instructor: Dr. John Zhou Dielectric Logging - Technology, Wave Propagation, Core Analysis, and Formation Evaluation OCTOBER 31, 2016 This course will attempt to cover a wide range of topics concerning dielectric well logging including tool physics, core measurements, and formation evaluation techniques using dielectric log data. Course Instructor: Michael J Manning Reservoir Characterization Using Ancient Open-Hole Logs and Modern Through-Casing Logs NOVEMBER 9, 2016 Reservoir characterization through casing is of importance in many oil and gas fields. For example, it is often too risky or too expensive to acquire open-hole log data in newly-drilled wells, and logging through casing reduces both risk and cost. Modern through-casing logs can often provide the data necessary to calculate porosity, fluid saturation and fluid type in these cases. Course Instructors: Eric Pasternack and James Hemingway
