2 WEEK REMINDER SPWLA CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts 55thAnnual Logging Symposium Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates * May 18-22, 2014 ABSTRACTS, Due by October 6th The 2014 international symposium will be held in the Middle East for the first time. For nine consecutive years the Abu Dhabi Chapter has organized a Spring Annual Topical conference that attracts hundreds of delegates, with local, regional, and international contributors. Now, it is time to host a bigger crowd with the motto of "Inspire a generation of Petrophysicists". Given the importance of Abu Dhabi and The Arabian Gulf to world oil and gas production, there will be a strong component of data acquisition in and interpretation of data from carbonate reservoirs. The SPWLA Board of Directors invites you to join us in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, May 18-22, 2014 to showcase your recent innovations and discoveries at the 55th Annual Symposium. We solicit papers on all aspects of formation evaluation. Formation Evaluation of Conventional Reservoirs New technologies and case histories in shaly sands, carbonates, and low-resistivity pay. Formation Evaluation of Unconventional Reservoirs New technologies and case histories in organic-rich mudstones, tight gas/oil, and coal bed methane. New Borehole Logging Technology Resistivity, nuclear, sonic, magnetic resonance, pressure/sampling, mud logging, imaging tool design and advancements in acquisition, processing, and data interpretation. High Angle/Horizontal Well Evaluation and/or Advanced Mud Logging and Real-Time Decision-Making Case histories, well placement, safety in over-pressured zones, drilling and completion optimization, wellbore stability and other well safety issues, and related new technology. Cased-Hole/Production Logging Production logging, cement integrity, EOR, formation evaluation, and new technologies. Carbonate Reservoirs Case Studies Application of new and existing petrophysical techniques to solve the unique challenges in carbonate reservoirs. Carbonate reservoir rock typing, surveillance, low-resistivity pay in carbonates, estimation of remaining oil saturation (ROS), and emerging technologies with emphasis on Middle Eastern case histories. Abstracts must be submitted no later than Sunday, October 6, 2013 through online submission at www.spwla2014.com . The information contained in your abstract is the basis for the acceptance of your paper into the technical program. Your abstract should only contain 200-500 words. Do not feel obligated to use the full-allotted length. Relevance, novelty and clarity are what our members look for at our symposia. Notification of acceptance will be made in December 2013. If accepted, your abstract will be published in the April 2014 issue of Petrophysics. The paper will be scheduled for presentation at the Abu Dhabi Symposium, and a complete manuscript will be required for the Transactions by March 9, 2014. For questions, please contact Sharon Johnson at SPWLA, (+1) 713-947-8727 or email sharon@spwla.org. NOTE TO AUTHORS: Complete a separate online form for each abstract submitted. For multiple authors, the submission should come only from the designated corresponding author. BE SURE TO TELL A COLLEAGUE ABOUT OUR EVENT!! Over the last 54 years, the SPWLA has played a major global role in strengthening petrophysical education and strives to increase the awareness of the role petrophysics has in the oil and gas industry and the scientific community.
