Abstract: A im In order to exp lore the characteristics of fault2block reservoir and its formation factors, where the
facies were changed frequently, the action of surface water was active, there were a few of oil2water system s, well
logging response was comp lex. M ethods H igh and low resistivity fault2block reservoir, and high resistivity water
layer were discussed and studied synthetically based on geology, well logging and multiparameter discrim inance.
Results The distribution of oil and water in fault2block field controlled by factors including fault, sedimentary m i2
cro2facies, reservoir p roperty, and formation water. The reservoirs of relative high resistivity were p reponderantlt lo2
cated in the channels sand2body of relative high structural position and p referable closure. The low resistivity reser2
voir was in marginal sand2body of distributary channel and /or fault vicinity. The high resistivity water layer was
p reponderant in fault vicinity. Conclusion The fault2block reservoir can be aright identified when the characteris2
tics, formation, and accumulation of high and low resistivity fault2block reservoir, and water layer were p redom ina2
ted.
