12 October 2009 SPLWA-Oman Chapter Conference 'Data Acquisition and Evaluation Challenges in Complex Environments'

The SPWLA - Oman Chapter is organizing the first petrophysical gathering in Oman including both operating and service companies. The future of the oil and gas industry in Oman and the region involves many petrophysical challenges in unlocking hydrocarbons in complex environments. To overcome these challenges, there should be an agreement between the business requirements of the operating companies and the sophisticated technologies from the service companies. The conference will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences and to explore latest technologies, both in data acquisition and evaluation.

The general themes include:

· Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR): new approaches and recommended
procedures, data acquisition, core testing and evaluation.

· Tight Gas: new approaches and recommended procedures, data
acquisition, core testing and evaluation.

· Surveillance: cased hole logging (e.g. PNC, CO, temperature and thru casing resistivity logs, etc.) for Water flooding, Gas-injection, WAG and steam).
SPEAKER SOLICITATION: No papers or abstracts are published.
We seek presentations from people who wish to speak.
We welcome diversity of expertise to foster a genuine learning event.
WHO WILL BE THERE: Petrophysicists, Reservoir Engineers, Production Technologist and other Geoscientists working on data acquisition, core analysis, monitoring logging and surveillance strategy.
