Spring Topical Conference SPWLA 2017 CALL FOR ABSTRACTS (Deadline Date Extended to March 25th) Value of Information and Uncertainty in Petrophysics. Today’s low oil price drives cost reduction measures all across the Industry. For those of us involved in data acquisition proposals – and many Petrophysicists and decisions are – this poses a challenge. Should we reduce data acquisition? Should we strongly defend it? What generates value for our money? It also poses an opportunity. We often take the value of our data acquisition simply for granted, or we acquire data that frankly we don’t use fully. Being challenged forces us to consider the value that data brings us, and come with a good justification for both acquisition and use of the data. At its core, data acquisition supports decision making under uncertainty. And its value lies in enabling the right decisions by addressing that uncertainty. Uncertainty in Petrophysics and Value of Information are thus intricately linked. There are a number of tried and trusted methodologies around that can help to quantify Petrophysical Uncertainty and Value of Information – as well as new techniques and approaches. Deployment of such methods is instrumental in providing Petrophysicists with the justification of their data acquisition programs. It prepares us for the challenges from other disciplines and functions to reduce data acquisition, and in fact prepares us for developing cost-effective data acquisition ourselves. Methodologies - Petrophysical Uncertainty – in porosity, saturation, permeability, … and in 3D/4D - Value of Information - best practices - Software tools - Database Management - Data Analytics on Formation Evaluation. Case studies - VOI and Uncertainty in exploration and appraisal setting - VOI and Uncertainty in development and production setting - Lookback reviews: realised value of data acquisition - Beyond the wellbore – VOI and decision making o in field development o in field operations - Database Management - Improvements and Efficient results with Data analytics on formation evaluation. Role of SPWLA in driving VOI and cost-and-value-conscious data acquisition Technical Committee: Jean-Paul Koninx, Chair, Shell, jean-paul.koninx@shell.com - Global Integrated Reservoir Modelling César Patiño, Co-Chair, Ecopetrol, Cesar.Patino@ecopetrol.com.co - Reservoir & EOR Department Ulises Daniel Bustos, Schlumberger, ulises.bustos@slb.com - Wireline Petrophysics Domain (Colombia-Ecuador-Peru) Sandra Carneiro, Petrobras, sandra_carneiro@petrobras.com.br - Reservoir Petrophysicist Ellen Coopersmith, DecisionFrameworks, ellencoopersmith@decisionframeworks.com - President Milton Mendez, Baker Hughes, Milton.Mendez@bakerhughes.com - LatinAmerica Chief Petrophysics Cristina Rueda, Halliburton, cristina.rueda@halliburton.com - LatinAmerica Formation Evaluation Leader Carlos Varga, Weatherford Carlos.Vargas@LA.Weatherford.com - Reservoir Solution Manager (Colombia-Ecuador-Peru) Dates: 19-21 April 2017, Bogotá, Colombia 19 April – Optional Introductory Course, Registration, Icebreaker, Welcome Keynote 20-21 April – Conference (Content Topics below, to be further high graded by Conference Committee post Abstract submission deadline of 15 March, depending on Abstract content) SEND ABSTRACT TO abstract@spwla.org (include title, author(s) with company or institution name and abstract (A limit of 150 words is suggested) Register to attend www.spwla.org No onsite registration will be available and registration is done purely online.
